Emergency Exit Lighting Inspection and Testing
Emergency lighting is a Critical Life Saving System provided to assist occupants to evacuate in case of an emergency and to prevent certain tasks, such as a controlled practice emergency drills/shutdown, to be performed in safety.
In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, and the Australian Building Code of Practice, the person responsible for the upkeep of the installation is legally obligated to ensure that the system installed is in full working order, and conforms to Australian Standards AS2293 part 1.
The minimum maintenance requirements Emergency Exit Lighting are:
- monthly check that the lights operate
- 6 monthly test to ensure that the lights remain operating for 90 minutes on battery power.
It is with this in mind that inspections of your systems are required to make sure that all emergency lights within your property are working correctly. As with all testing carried out by iiNTT, only Compliance Technicians suitably qualified and deemed competent to carry out assessments are employed and used.
